Joost aims to be a TV replacement service where you are free of schedules and have control over what you watch, when you want to watch it. Several companies are running TV replacement services, and it seems to be an interesting market with loads of developments.

DVR has become TV replacement in a way. No longer do I have to be physically in front of the television set in order to watch a show. Being able to record programs and watch them at the user's convenience also has a significant impact on the television advertising business model since people no longer have to watch the commercials that advertisers pay millions to put in front of us.
