Valkyrie Trailer - Watch more Movie Trailers
I think of myself as something of a geek: more computers than people in my house, iPods for everyone, Facebook & Twitter. You get the idea. But when it comes to renting a movie I guess I'm just old fashioned. I like to actually go into a video story and walk around and pick one off the shelf instead of having it show up in my mailbox in a few days...
My habit of renting movies the old traditional way led to a catastrophic choice recently that could have probably been prevented if I'd just known about Break.com's channel for new movie trailers. The movie I rented was Revolutionary Road (Leonardo DiCaprio, Kate Winslet). And if I'd watched the trailer a time or two it might have hit me that a) in a movie about a couple going to Paris, they never actually get to Paris or there would have been a scene from Paris in the trailer and b) the trailer's scene of them sitting on the couch talking was probably the most action-packed scene in the movie. My wife and I finally pulled the plug on it after the first 80 minutes or so of monotonous torture.
In retrospect, I wish we'd rented something more like Valkyrie: a little love, a little history, a faster pace, and a lot of action. From the trailer preview for Valkyrie, it's easy to see it's a pretty good movie. I didn't rent it. My bad.
At least next time we get the urge to rent something (or run out to the theater) I know where to go to get a taste of what's available...
