Voip (Voice Over IP) is one of the promises of the future. All Telco's offer it, and if you are prepared to look a little bit further, you can get it yourself and save lots of money as telco's get paid for doing absolutely nothing. In my case, a new phone that combines a landline and a voip line was the only thing I got besides an account with voipbuster, which costs nothing. Cost is very low, lots of destinations are totally free and others that are usually extremely expensive (Africa, for instance) are pretty cheap now. Voip is therefore cool.
Voipbuster and othes also offer an alternative way of making phone calls using their system. You enter the destination number and your own number on the site, a computer sets up the connection and you are called on your own number when the connection is ready. Sipphone, a company that is very active in the Voip community just launched a site called Gizmo Call. Gizmocall is cool : just enter a number and the call is made. Gizmocall even lets you enter a url in your browser to make a call. As the name makes you think, Gizmocall is powered by the Gizmo Project, a free Voip client created by Sipphone. The application is built in flash. This will be the next hot thing in internet cafe's....
