Virtual Worlds
by Greg Cruey on November 15, 2008
The Metaverse Journal published an article earlier this month on a recent report by the US market research firm In-Stat. In a nutshell: Virtual worlds are here to stay, and they're big business. Over a billion people will have residency status in a virtual world by 2012. And the report developed some criteria for comparing virtual worlds.
The report looked at how virtual worlds generate revenue. It also developed some criteria for comparing virtual worlds. You can read the whole report yourself - for just under $3,000 (about 58 bucks a page).
The real news out of the report is the report itself. More and more marketing research is being done on virtual worlds and the topic is not going away any time soon.

I wonder if the online game worlds are the virtual worlds too, they generate great revenue.
