Crowdsourcing

The crowd...

I've mentioned crowdsourcing before, but it's been a little while. Wikipedia defines crowdsourcing as "the act of taking a task traditionally performed by an employee or contractor, and outsourcing it to an undefined, generally large group of people or community in the form of an open call." They should know. Wikipedia is crowdsourced…

Two interesting pieces on crowdsourcing came across my screen late last month. The Inquisitr had a piece on the idea of corwdsourcing as a basis for pop culture. Author Steven Hodson called it – well, I can't really tell you what he called it. But I can tell you he refered to the leavings of a very large far animal.

The Social Path had a more thoughtful and less emotive article on the subject. The looked at examples of significant things accomplished iat least in part by corwdsourcing. For example, best-selling author James Patterson crowdsourced much of his new bookAirBorne.

David Griner's article at Social Path is worth reading. The Inquisitr article makes me scratch my head and try to remember why I keep them in my reader.
