Google is working hard to integrate the aquired Jotspot into Google page creator, the tool built into Apps meant to create webpages for companies. With the intended integration, Google aims for the intranet/extranet market. This market is an interesting and lucrative one for two reasons:
The newly application called Google Sites is to be released in 2008, but a more precize date is unkown.
, but as a CMS specialist I can already tell him that this is not likely. A wellbuilt intranet in Google Apps can be very powerful, but it is not the same as a CMS, with all of it's powers geared towards content management and the typical database backed applictions. I am very excited to see the result though.
Google Apps is here.
- As soon as a company outgrows it's initial phase, an intranet is required to share information
- The ability to create intranets and extranets from within Google Apps could be what gets companies to start using Google Apps, where they would have bought another product
