Google : Maka-Maka to you, too

Makamaka'ole Falls

Some say Google has been wanting to invest in facebook, but as we know someone else has bought the social network. Personally I think Google might have wanted to invest, but probably only to launch it's own social network with a bang. Yes you read it wright : Google is developing it's own social network. Several rumors have leaked out since while, and today to possible name for the network has become less vague : it's Maka-Maka. Or makamaka.
Maka-Maka encompasses Google's grand plan to build a social layer across all of its applications. Some details about Maka-Maka have already leaked out, particularly how Google plans to use the feed engine that powers Google Reader (known internally as Reactor) to create "activity streams" for other applications akin to Facebook's news and mini feeds. But Maka-Maka goes well beyond that.()

The new app will make clever use of several existing components in the Googleplex, and I wouldn't be surprised if Maka-Maka is built on top of Orkut or it's engine (why not use a working app) with plenty of additional components bindings. I guess all we have to do is be patient right now - Google has said parts will be released november 5th, but some say it will be delayed a few days.
