The RechargeIT initiative aims to reduce emissions and dependence on oil, and promote clean energy technologies and consumer choice, by accelerating the adoption of plug-in hybrids ("plug-ins") and vehicle-to-grid ("V2G") technologies(Google.org RechargeIT)It's all about hybrid cars, but not the factory ones, but the plug-in sort. Although I have believed that hybrid cars would be the latest gospel, after some research into the subject, I now know that the production of the batteries for a toyota prius hybrid costs our environment more than what a dodge truck blows out of it's tailpipe in 10 years. In other words, hybrids are not the solution. I am excited though that a company like Google is investing in these technological developments. If we have to wait for car manufacturers and/or governments, the planet will be destroyed, and the only survivors will be suit-wearing politicians with bags of money they won'rt be able to use.....

Google has the means to get involved in any single matter the company would like. It's admirable that they chose this one.
