Google's OpenSocial will nock you over
Filed in archive Newsdesk 2.0 on November 2, 2007
Google has released it's OpenSocial only days ago, and everyone is implementing it. This morning I read that Plaxo is implementing it, and Ning will implement it later today. This can only mean one thing : OpenSocial will dominate the social network market. Myspace is already on it. Dutch social network Hyves is using it, too.
Earlier this week I spoke about Maka-Maka, the supposed name for Google's social network that is to be released on or around november 9th. As one plus one is usually two, I think this is Google's gameplan :
OpenSocial is a set of api's anyone can use, and Maka-Maka will be an additional layer built on top of OpenSocial acting as an interface to it. The latter will probably be feature-rich and integrate with a lot of other Google products.
Any way Google approaches it, it will lead to Social Network domination by the search giant.
