Google's OpenSocial will nock you over

Filed in archive Newsdesk 2.0 by S.M. Schrama on November 02, 2007

Google has released it's OpenSociallinks only days ago, and everyone is implementing it. This morning I read that Plaxo is implementing it, and Ning will implement it later today. This can only mean one thing : OpenSocial will dominate the social network market. Myspace is already on it. Dutch social network Hyves is using it, too.

Earlier this week I spoke about Maka-Maka, the supposed name for Google's social network that is to be released on or around november 9th. As one plus one is usually two, I think this is Google's gameplan :

OpenSocial is a set of api's anyone can use, and Maka-Maka will be an additional layer built on top of OpenSocial acting as an interface to it. The latter will probably be feature-rich and integrate with a lot of other Google products.

Any way Google approaches it, it will lead to Social Network domination by the search giant.
