IMSafer : protect your kids
Filed in archive Newsdesk 2.0 on October 4, 2006
As a parent, I do not look forward to the day my little princess goes online. Especially because I consider myself more or less an insider - I spend a lot of time on the web and I do a lot of research into a lot of things going on on the Net. I have written about my concerns before when I reviewed Industrious Kid.
IMSafer is another initiative with the cildren's protection in mind.IMSafer will sell a web based service to protect children online. Our service will be easy to use, it won't be spyware, and, most importantly, it will be effective.(IMSafer Manifesto)
So how will they do it ?IMSafer.com will be the center of the web discussion about protecting children.
I still wonder how they think they can protect our children. In my opinion, there are only a fes things you can do :
- Get a filtered dsl or cable line
- Be in control of what your kids can or cannot do on-line (yes, there are ways to control this)
- Don't let them spend too much time online - there's plenty of things to do for a ki/d besides being online. Go take them to the park and play !
I don't think a service like IMSafer can help - your children will quickly find the way to other sites where they can chat unmonitored blowing away all efforts.
