A couple of days ago I had the pleasure of talking to David Hayden, CEO of Jeteye. Jeteye was founded late 2004 and released it's software around april 20 2006. The main aim of the company was (and is) to improve human interaction in the search process as well as the search platform. A goal of the company is to create a personal organization environment, where you collect and organise your web. Jeteye currently works within browsers through an extension, but it will be released as a standalone application in the near future.
Jeteye will be released for one of the top three IM Clientsin the very near future. I can only speculate on which one, but it will be announced on this website. Please find a review of the Jeteye software here.

According to David, the main goals for Jeteye are :
  • bookmarking the web
  • to be a system for communication (social web)
  • sending people to what they look for
  • to be an organisation tool
  • you will be able to collect anything, not just notes

Jeteye's 2006 goals are to release the desktop application, have full and complete firefox support and reach 200.000 to 500.000 users. Upon my question on how David believes Jeteye can establish this he replied : "Jeteye is not here to replace, but to add". David also firmly believes that bookmarking in Jeteye is much better than bookmarking the traditional way. Modification to Jetpaks (packaged data that form the main core of Jeteye) will be realtime, and as the software will be released for a major IM client I believe that this is elementary. In the future certain services will be commercial, but the base as it is now will remain free.
