"Projects where workers choose the technology have a much better chance of succeeding than ones where IT chooses" ~Ben Worthen, The Wall Street Journal

If all your employees like MySpace, then why would you use Facebook for your business' Web 2.0 project. That's just an example, but you get the point. Most people in your office are probably not extremely tech savvy. So why use a complicated Web 2.0 system that your IT department recommends when you can use something simple that anyone can use?

People who are tech savvy will choose something will all kinds of cool tools, bells and whistles. These things will never be used by your average office worker causing frustration and, eventually, they'll stop using it all together. If you have the people who will be using they system choose your Web 2.0 system, you'll have a happier office and more collaboration.

Who's choosing your Web 2.0 system?
