LinknSurf : RSS on your cellphone

LinknSurf offers to carry your favorite websites on your mobile. As they use rss technology this is obviously limited to sites that offer rss functionality. Currently MySpace, Xanga, LiveJournal, MSN Spaces, Blogspot, TextAmerica and some more are supported. How ? "Link'n'Surf is currently available for all Java midp2.0 phones. LinknSurf provides a list of supported phones.

I believe that in today's world with Web 2.0, having to use software is a mistake. Instead we should look at the solution Google offers to read their RSS reader on you cellphone, just as you can read your Gmail on your cell.

    Dear Servaas,

Let me try to address a few points:

Limited to sites that offer RSS?
No, for instance Link’n'Surf has support to track your MySpace Blogs (full posts) and MySpace Profile Comments.

The USP of LinkNSurf is not just reading RSS feeds on the phone but it serves as a platform that allows users to interact, share and discover new content via others in the network. Each user has a profile where they can start by uploading a photo and filling up some personal information. As they start adding Subscriptions, Communities (based on their interests where they can share and discuss interesting articles or even share their subscriptions with like minded folks) or Friends it starts showing up on their profiles. So whenever someone is exploring my profile they get to preview all my stuff and may choose to subscribe what all they find interesting. Some of our initial users started off by sharing articles and rating photos of World Cup, in the process they got to connect like minded people and have formed several communities where they interact, discuss about their interests and recommend new content channels to each other.

One of the important focus of LinkNSurf is to allow users to share anything interesting they find with friends across multiple platforms. As of the version coming next week they will be able to share with anyone on LinkNSurf, SMS or Email. Not only that their friends on email or LinkNSurf will be able to respond back and forth any number of times.

Please feel free to buzz me with your inputs.

    Cheers!

    Totally agree Servaas!

Downloading software to a cell phone is asking for big time trouble. A web based tool that is accessible trough a WAP or HTML browser is so much easier to use and maintain for the provider.
