Map Your Mind : Mindmappers discussed

Anne Zelenka reviewed three mindmappers. Mindmappers are very useful in alot of ways, and I have used several in my lifetime.
So what is it ? Simple. Where you would write down issues on paper, draw rectangles around them and link them to other things you've written down, you can do all that using a mindmapper. And more. Because a mindmapper offers (almost) unlimited connections to existing and new items you think of, and some offer other functinality too. But one of the most important features is, IMHO, the ability to zoom into a particular part of your mindmap, as you can highlight the thought you had at the time you created the mindmap. Mindmappers are very good at helping you organizing your thoughts.

Very, very useful. I did not check all the mindmappers Anne Zelenka reviews, but I did check two of them :
Mindmeister and Mindomo, thanks to my buddy DutchClick who is a Freemind user and arranged invitations to the private beta of Mindmeister superfast....

Mindmeister is really good. It is simple, clean and fast. It features collaboration, import and export of Freemind files and more. I would recommend it, but the current 'free' private beta is what will become the paid version. At a couple of euro's a month, I don't see the value. There will be a free version, showing adds, with limited functionality. That's strange, as you would say that ads pay for something so I think the ads version should be the one that is in private beta right now. Strip functionality and the app becomes unusable. And printing is terrible : the gif looks as if it was done by hand and export to pdf doesn't even exist. So we'll have to let it go.

Mindomo is very good, but it has too many features to make a quick jot. Maybe you just have to get used to it, it is very goodlooking. It was released into public beta in februari. A nice feature is the ability to insert pictures into the siblings. Unfortunately, Mindomo will also be released in free and paid versions, where the free version allows you to only store 7 maps (mindmeister allows 5...).

Conclusion : It's a difficult choice, but Mindomo seems to be the best one. Until Google adds a mindmapper to their office suite, I would choose Mindomo.
