Microsoft Silverlight : Flash killer ?
Microsoft is a company that doesn't like competition. So what they do is buy out competition or squeeze the competition. Last example I remember is the announcement *not* to participate in the xml standard, officially stating that it lacked some features, but we all know that this is their way of trying to tie their clients to them by making their or format which we will be able to edit 5 lightyears from now. Remember how long it took for developers around the globe to reverse engineer the .doc format so you weren't condemned to use their office product anymore ? Remember how they rejected the pdf standard (Portable Document Formatlinks if you don't know) and released their own ??

This time they've launched )

NAFK. Not A Flash Killer.
