Open Source vendor Zimbra has recently released the Zimbra Collaboration Suite 3.0. This suite of applications includes a mail client and a calendar. The interface is similar to that of other rich mail suites like Evolution and Outlook. Built on AJAX, the application feels like a locally installed application. The application is built around a server-client technology. It is not mandatory to use the richt webbased client - the server also works with locally installed apps like Outlook, Evolution or Thunderbird/Sunbird as well as mobile devices such as Blackberry and Palm or PocketPC smartphones. Zimbra calls it Freedom of Choice. I think the technology behind this suite is not thát revolutionary, but the AJAX webbased interface is simply fabulous. A demo is available through their website. Join the revolution.
