The last couple of years webbased applications made their entry in our world, and it has had a revolutionary effect on us and our society. For some people the fact that the applications only work when you're online has been a disadvantage, but fortunately most of the apps support export to local file storage : You can save the docs or results on your computer's harddrive.
These days things are looking better than ever : A couple of the webbased apps we've used for years now make their way to our computer : they go offline. What does this mean ? Simple. You will be able to use the application just as you would when connected to the net, but you don't have to be connected to use it. The app will sync it's contents as soon as you go back online to prevent differences between online and offline content. This is our future. We don't install software on our computers as basic as that anymore. Who installs rss readers or office suites these days ? There are perfect replacements available for anyone with a connection to the net, like zoho, google docs and several others.
Google Docs has something else that was just announced :
Enough said, I think.
