When I first heard the term "virtual textbook," I thought it was referring to college age students. Instead, a new initiative in Florida is making textbooks for first-though fifth-grade students available online or via CD.

Dana El Yamani from Pine Grove Elementary School says that parents have been very enthusiastic about the online advancement and adds that, " Now, their child can't say they forgot their book at school anymore, because they can access everything online."

The online textbooks are " McGraw Hill's "Treasures" collection, are part of a plan that allows students to bring the CD home with them for homework purposes, under the condition they return the disc at the end of the year." Parents can also help their child access their schoolbooks online, so if they forget the CDs they can still read the required text.

Looks like kids have absolutely no excuse not to do their homework these days!
