Pirates live on an, err, Island

Filed in archive News on January 15, 2007

Sealand, a fromer fort in the sea near Britain, was unused and converted into a principality years ago. Saeland has it's own passports, stamps, and such. An internet company has had it's servers there because of it's soverinity, offering all kinds of internet services to companies that prefer to be in a country that knows and recognizes no laws concerning copyrights and other rights.

Pirates live on an, err, Island

The Pirate Bay, a swedish downloadsite that was shut down by the government, hosted it's site in Holland for a while (yes, we're cowboys) but is hosted in Sweden again, is looking for a way out : They're not to keen on what's happening to AllofMp3.com and try to find a homeland : SeaLand. Why ?two reasons.

  • 1. Pirates live on an island

  • 2. Sealand is sovereign. No copyrights or such.

I wonder what will happen. I'm counting on the pirates. Sealand's prince (of darkness ??) has said that he will hand the principality over at the right price.
