Taking Photos is Fun. Losing Them Isn't.

The people behind ProtectmyPhotos couldn't be more right. What they offer is a simple yet working backup solution for your photos. You install client software, make one initial backup and the software will monitor your folders so newly added images are put in the backup, on the internetsite. Now I would not be myself if I kept my mouth closed. So here's my 2 cents.

First of all, you need client software. The client software monitors your folders, but what if you quickly create a new folder somewhere else ? What if you put some images on your laptop quick and need to race out the door with it ? The backup will certainly break. Worst thing of all, there are system requirements and it's Windows you need in order to use it. I think it's a nice initiative, but it will never really cut it. A better solution ? Buy a 500 GB USB harddrive and copy your images yourself. Accessible from any computer with a usb connection, no software needed and no fees. Just copies.
