There are four basic purposes for writng. You can write to provide information. You can write to entertain. You can write just to express yourself. Or you can write to persuade. If you think that "to make money" should be on the list somewhere, and that is your primary purpose for writing, there's a good chance you don't have many readers...
Blogging is just a plaform for writing. And whatever yur purpose for writing, there are some basic rules to live by if you want to be successful at it and attract readers. DailyBlogTips had a good piece Wednesday outlining those rules for successful blogging. They're simple - things like how your blog needs to be unique and how you need to put value in your content. If you blog at all, I'd recommend the article.
