Should we ditch Tailrank ?

Filed in archive Web 2.0 on July 24, 2007

Techcrunch recently reported that the blog index Tailrank showed no news for several days, and reported that the site might be facing certain death. The owners did not like that very much :
Founder Kevin Burton was outraged, said our post bordered on "complete journalistic incompetence," demanded an "apology and a retraction" and promised big news within a week.(Techcrunch comments)

That last remark seems funny to me. The site is supposed to index news all the time, not within a week.

Anyway, weeks later and....nothing. Well, there is something. Spam.
And today the top story on TailRank is a viagra spam post. The second headline story is a porn spam post. Below that are real stories but they're months old. This is from the site that was "designed with spam prevention in mind."()

I don't think I have to explain what I am getting at. By the way, the Technology section is empty. Again.
