SMSTunes - a new online music service

Filed in archive Newsdesk 2.0 on July 25, 2007

Smstunes is probably the latest addition in online music portals - there are many out there so competition must be strong. They released their beta website recently in the wild, and here are the main ingredients.

  • FM radio station integration

  • Automatic retrieval of videos, lyrics, video-karaokes, ringtones, song samples and online music stores

  • Online video-karaoke experience without any software installation

  • YouTube integration

I see one particular thing in the list that I hate, but the other three look promising. The radio integration is a pretty cool one. You listen to a station, like the tune but don't know the name. By sms, you can add the station and it will be added to smstunes. Cool. The retrieval of content belonging to the tune you like is sweet : if you add a song everything around it will be with it too. Who doesn't like that ?

The best feature however is the youtube integration, allowing youtube users to expand their service with this fun new service. I think it would never fly in europe, as we don't have that many radiostations here, but in the US, this could be a *hot* service. Go check out how they can make your life just a little bit brighter.
