Worldcoolers.org's goal is to raise public awareness to climate change. How ? From the website you can install a desktop application that will receive updates, articles and such. If you run Microsoft's Windows. So they leave out the ever growing Mac communitiy and Linux users.
Personally, I think it's fine to inform the public about global warming. But I have to say that this site does not look objective. And I don't think people appreciate another application they have to install, just to receive alerts from yet another website. Pity.

Windows stills holds the lion’s share of users, so it came first. We made sure to give non-Windows users the option to participate – they can subscribe to WorldCoolers’ alerts by RSS using the links on our homepage.
The idea behind WorldCoolers is not just to send you more boring news updates. We want our community to act – to work together on the web to make sure that global warming remains high on everyone’s agenda.
