Taking Notes Online

Filed in archive Web 2.0 on February 2, 2007

Years ago I gave up notetaking on paper. I could not find one valid reason to do it if I have a big box on or under my desk I can use. Besides that, if I take nots on the computer, it will be available whenever I need to, I can share it (yes, years ago you could only share it by sending it off to people) and it could be made searchable. Ever since the Web 2.0 revolution started, I have been looking for an easy to use, simple and quick way to take notes. All online office suites offer some kind of notepad application, but they all lack certain features. Latest of the notetaking applications is, or rather will be as it is not yet released, Zoho Notebook.

Those of you who come to this site more often know I used to use Zoho's applications daily, but I have to admit I have largely moved to google's online apps, as they're better inperformance and accessibility most of the time. Full integration with my google hosted email is also a strong argument I think. But that's besides the subject. ZohoNotebook is a full featured notebook application, support rss feeds, Sharing and all that, but an interesting feature is *sharing at content level* :
You can share a whole Notebook, or just pages - and even just parts of pages, which Raju calls "sharing at the content level". It enables collaborative editing, so that more than one person can edit a notebook at a time. It also has version control too and access controls.()

I couldn't care less about the other features, because this is the killer one. Maybe this is important to all users, but if you're into publishing a lot, it is killing. Good move, Zoho !
It won't be launched until march.
A video is provided here about it.
