The New Economy : MySpace Extortion
Filed in archive Newsdesk 2.0 on February 28, 2007
Two programmers offered a piece of code to myspace members that shows who has visited their myspace pages. According to Myspace's TOS, that is illegal. When mysapce blocked the code, the programmers accounced a new version of their code, or 150,000 USD. They must have been amateurs, as they were caught when getting on a plane to collect their money. The two pleaded no contest in a Los Angeles court to the lesser charge of illegal computer access. Instead of jailtime up to 4 years, they received 3 years probation and they are allowed to have only one e-mailadress. Yes, you read it write : only one. Is this a sign of the new economy everyone's talking about ?
