This has to be Web 2.0 or maybe even the beginning of Web 3.0. I was at my doctors office and noticed a poster they had hanging in the room. It said they had a website and I thought, doesn't everyone, it's about time. Then I read further. Their website offers a lot more than just information on who they are and what they do.
A couple basic things I can do from my Doctor's website are ask for prescription refills and request an appointment. I can also add my insurance information, health information and emergency contact.
Even better is the ability to set up a virtual doctor visit. I just need to fill out the form telling them who I am and what I need. Then I can "visit" the doctor right from my computer. This is only to be used for simple things like a cold, not something serious. I tell them what's wrong with me, then they send me instructions and fax the pharmacy any prescriptions I may need. The downside, it's not covered by insurance.
