Utube sues Youtube
Filed in archive Newsdesk 2.0 on November 2, 2006
Utube, the Universal Tube & Rollform Equipment Corporation specializes in buying and selling Used Tube Mills, Used pipe Mills and Used Rollforming Machines sues Youtube. Why ? Utube has received an offer for their domainname fro one million USD, and turned it down. The site gets heavy traffic because people mistype the site they wanted to visit : Youtube. The result is that Utube had to invest in it's website and the infrastructure behind it's website, costing a lot of money. They even received a call from the Australian Police saying they offer child porn on the site (that says something about the Australian police, doesn't it??).
Utube demands that youtube gives up using the name Youtube, or pays part of the investment in the infrastructure of Utube's website.
All this sounds rather strange to me. Is it Youtube's fault that people can't spell ? I think I will sue anyone who misdials my number and therefore makes me unreachable for more than 5 seconds......
