Where is The Web going?
Filed in archive Web 2.0 on February 7, 2008

Sometimes I think The Web is dead. When looking at all the startups that die within 2 years, some even after only a few months, you can only wonder what the real value of the web is, and if this will bleed to death slowly or revive and transform itself into something else.
Personally, although sometimes I believe it's doomed to failure, I believe there is a future for the internet. But differently. Looking at current developments on/around the net, it is clear that the net will transform into a place that stores applications and data, and will interconnect every piece of technology we know, from computers to tiny handheld devices, making all data and apps online available to us anywhere we want.
In my vision, The Web will be reborn anytime soon. Startups offering the 13th office suite or IM app will start to disappear, and we will see more innovation in applications and connectivity.

I totally agree. The web is definitely in a transition stage right now. Give it another 2 years and I think we'll see a new web rising.
